J.B. Stoner, a Georgia native, was a prominent member of the Ku Klux Klan, the segregationist National States' Rights Party, and founder of the Stoner Christian Anti-Jewish Party. In 1977, Stoner was indicted, and was later convicted and imprisoned, for the 1958 bombing of Bethel Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. He ran for numerous public offices including governor of Georgia in 1970. This collection contains Stoner's gubernatorial campaign poster and a flier for a 1974 meeting of the National States' Rights Party.

William Armstrong Smith was a Georgia state senator from the 34th District (Fulton County), from 1966 to 1974. During this time, Smith introduced various bills, served on and/or chaired numerous senate committees, and actively supported the development of the Republican Party in Georgia. The collection documents his career and to a lesser degree his campaigns as well as his continued interest in legislative matters after his senate career ended (1975-1978). The majority of the collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, financial records, and legislative bills. There are approximately six linear feet of publication materials produced by various sources covering subjects such as education, insurance, transportation, and planning. Another important aspect of the collection is correspondence Smith created after his senate career with Georgia politicians. Correspondents include: Howard "Bo" Callaway, John J. Flynt, Jr., Wyche Fowler, Zell Miller, Sam Nunn, as well as United States Presidents Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and Richard Nixon.

This collection contains materials Brewton compiled in order to write a book (never published) about Governor Maddox. The scope of the collection covers both the gubernatorial (1967-1971) and the lieutenant governor (1971-1975) administrations of Maddox including the campaigns for each office as well as his 1968 bid for the U.S. presidency. The collection consists of materials collected by Reverend Clifford H. Brewton relating to Lester Maddox's terms as governor (1967-1971) and lieutenant governor (1971-1975), as well as his 1966 gubernatorial and 1968 campaigns. Brewton collected the materials for the purpose of writing a biography of Maddox, although it was never published. Audiovisual materials in the collection supplement the paper materials documenting Maddox's term as governor of Georgia and his subsequent campaigns for president of the United States in 1968 and for lieutenant governor of Georgia in 1970. Included among the four audiocassettes and 22 reels of ¼" audiotape are recordings of several campaign commercials for radio broadcast for both campaigns and speeches delivered for public events and private organizations throughout Georgia in his official capacity of governor.
